An introduction to Tees Active Ltd
Tees Active is one of the new breed of charitable leisure management organisations operating in the UK. Established as a non-profit-distributing company, it started operating on 1st May 2004.

Customer Service Excellence Standard
The Swan Centre for Leisure, like all other Tees Active Centres achieved the new Government National Standard, 'Customer Service Excellence Standard'
The new standard will allow us to improve our delivery of service, how we broadcast our information to customers, professionalism and staff attitude as well as developing customer insight, understanding the user's experience and the robust measurement of service satisfaction. By achieving this formal accreditation we have demonstrated our excellence in the following areas:

- The culture of the organisation

- Timeliness and quality services
Social Enterprise Award
The Swan Centre for Leisure has been presented with the Social Enterprise Mark, which identifies them as trading for social and environmental purposes that will benefit both people and the planet.
The Swan Centre for Leisure are part of only a handful of leisure centre’s to be awarded the Social Enterprise Mark and join other ethical businesses such as the Eden Project, Bristol Wood Recycling Project and the Co-operative Group South & West.
Social enterprises are working to make a difference across the UK and beyond, but not enough people know what they are or how they work. The Social Enterprise Mark aims to raise awareness of what social enterprises do in order to get more people to buy from, engage with, start up and work for social enterprises.
IQL Approved Training Status
The Institute of Qualified Lifeguards (IQL) Approved Training Centre Scheme is a quality assurance assessment programme designed to provide high standards in training delivery and competent course assessment. The IQL Approved Training Centre Scheme ensures high standards through consistency of training and assessing for the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) throughout the United Kingdom.The NPLQ meets all of the criteria for training and certification of swimming pool lifeguards as set out in the guidance published by the Health and Safety Executive.
